What Is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is a virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth, consisting of removable, clear aligners that are custom made with 3D computer imaging technology. They are removable so you can eat what you want and are able to brush and floss with ease, unlike with traditional braces.
The clear aligners are made of smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic that doesn’t irritate cheeks and gums like the metal brackets of traditional braces. These braces are nearly invisible so almost no one will notice as you wear each set of aligners and your teeth are gently and gradually shifted into place.
Why Choose Invisalign® Invisible Braces?
There are many reasons to choose Invisalign® over traditional braces. Invisalign® aligners are:
Because of these attributes, Invisalign® aligners are a great choice for patients of any age looking to straighten their smile. Their clear appearance will fit perfectly into your lifestyle and day to day interaction with others whether you’re a young child, a college student, or a mother of five.
How Does Invisalign® Work?
When you visit Grover Dental Centre for your first Invisalign® appointment, our staff will take x-rays, pictures and an iTero dental scan of your teeth, which are all used to create a digital 3D image of your mouth. Your dentist will then map out your personal treatment plan and tell you the approximate length of your treatment.
Based on your treatment plan, a series of custom-made aligners is then created. These fit over your teeth and changes at gradual intervals to help your teeth shift into the correct position. You’ll get a new set of aligners roughly every two weeks to continue the straightening process, and you’ll want to wear them 23-24 hours every day to ensure your treatment plan doesn’t take longer than expected. You will also have occasional checkups with your dentist about every six weeks to make sure the plan is going as intended.
Treatments are unique for each patient, but they will typically take about a year for adults and approximately 18 months for teens and younger patients. After this time, you will have a straightened smile that you can be proud of.
